Francesca Specter Alonement

I loved chatting to Francesca about the value of alone time, or Alonement. We both share our stories about the moment we realised that we were actually not just enjoying alone time but actively seeking it out. There can still be a raised eyebrow, when someone states that they just want to be on their own for while, but I love the way Francesca is both broadcasting and writing about Alonement. In fact I wish I had been able to access something like this when I was younger, and wondering why I wanted to spend chunks of time by myself.

You can check out Francesca's brilliant book ‘Alonement - How To Be Alone and Absolutely Own It.' Described by Alain de Botton as 'A hugely generous and thoughtful book which reminds us of the distinction between loneliness on the one hand and solitude on the other - and emphasises the dignity and adventure of a life lived on one's own terms.'

Huge thanks to Francesca for giving up her time to talk to me.

The more time I spent alone, I realised, it wasn’t just bearable, it was absolutely game changing. I was more confident, I was calmer... it changed my life for the better
