Since Airbnb came along in 2008, travellers have been able to experience a much more local and authentic stay in their chosen country. I've highlighted some tips to get the best experiences and how to be a great guest (and even save some money too!).
In September, I took a trip to Barcelona. This was my third trip to Barcelona but my first solo trip. I booked myself into an Airbnb just around the corner from Passeig de Gràcia. It was a beautiful apartment with top floor views of the Eixample neighbourhood.
With my two year old daughter spending a few days with her grandparents, and a couple of days holiday booked in my diary, I suddenly found myself with a brief window to get away all by myself.
I haven’t travelled solo since I was pregnant (and crammed in a series of short trips before my baby arrived and sleep disappeared). And travelling alone is my ‘thing’.
